The American Gallery of Psychiatric Art is no longer online, though I suppose it's probably mostly/slightly all still visible on web archives.
But right here is a something in the same spirit, that first item is a step by step guide to performing a lobotomy? Not something I ever wanted to learn but okay. How macabre.
I do miss the original gallery, it was a decent and quick chronology of how mental illness has come to be something more acknowledged and not so shameful in the last 50 or so years.
And a bit sad too, the stigma associated with it really is visible and dark in the earlier ones. Then literally beams of sunlight, gradually.
The Japanese Gallery is still up, and goes farther back in time than its counterpart did. Interesting, I wonder if there are other countries with galleries like this?
